White Heat

by Fleur Simon

Price on request

In stark contrast to their searing title, the minimal washes of colour and air bubbles trapped in the three panels of Fleur Simon's White Heat (2026) recall ocean spray and spume; waves crashing on a shore, suspended forever.

In Simon’s process – her own kind of ‘action painting’, open to the chance of each pour – as well as in the end results, there is a tension between the fleeting moment and the markedly durable. Both the technique and the works themselves are at once meditatively slow and thrillingly uncontrolled; gravity, tilting and the incidents of one pigment meeting another birth compositions that could be microscope slides of human cells on the one hand, riverbeds viewed from airplane windows on the other.

Fleur Simon (b. 1995) is a London-based artist whose practice explores the possibilities of resin and pigment. Working by pouring and layering, Simon allows the materials to generate forms that move between the bodily, the organic and the entirely abstract. Simon graduated with First Class Honours from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2018, following a Foundation Diploma at Central Saint Martins, UAL, and a scholarship semester at Paris College of Art. She completed her MFA at the University of Oxford in 2024, graduating with Merit. Simon has exhibited at Sid Motion Gallery, London, where she presented a dual exhibition with Sue Kennington in 2019, and more recently at Hannah Payne Gallery and Breakers Gallery, London, in 2025. Her work is held in international collections including the Monsoon Collection and Welbeck Collection, as well as the interior design collections of Soho Home and Studio Ashby.
