Bella Freud
To mark the 2018 centenary of women’s suffrage in the UK, a statue of Millicent Fawcett by artist Gillian Wearing was unveiled in London’s Parliament Square on April 24th 2018. Wearing collaborated with Plinth, the Mayor of London and designer Bella Freud to produce a range of merchandise inspired by Fawcett’s message, and part of the proceeds from the sale of the range is donated to the Fawcett Society.
Bella Freud was born in London and studied fashion in Rome. Upon her return to London she worked closely with Vivienne Westwood during the set-up of the post punk label. Bella's approach to fashion and colour are hardwired in her DNA; her father Lucian and her great-grandfather Sigmund were both radical trailblazers in their respective fields of art and psychoanalysis.
