Summer never really begins until the new Serpentine Summer Pavilion is revealed. At the opening night, Plinth met up with the Serpentine’s new development consultant Gillian Anderson Price (also famed for her beautiful vintage store and interior design), designer Lincoln Rivers, artist Alexandra Small, and model / physics scholar Alexia White, who created such beautiful images with Amanda Harlech and Nick Knight for the Isabella Blow retrospective Fashion Galore! at Somerset House.
Headfirst into summer at the Serpentine Pavilion
Plinth couldn’t resist leaping into action to photograph the sunset against the iridescent rainbow colours of the new pavilion by Spanish architects Selgas Cano. Perhaps unkindly compared to a polytunnel, this undulating pavilion is made from ETFE plastic (the innovative material used to create the Eden Project domes) stretched over curved steel ribs. From the wrapped green exterior merging with the treetops, to the sparkly interior, we were thoroughly entranced.
